Konami nos presenta la octava entrega de Yu-Gi-Oh para Game Boy Advance. Más cartas, más personajes y más largo, esta nueva entrega demuestra que no todas las adaptaciones de series de animación son malas.

ANALISIS


Regreso al mundo de Yugi

En esta ocasión, el jugador no se pondrá en el papel del personaje protagonista de todo este fenómeno, ni en ninguno de sus amigos. Tampoco deberá salvar al mundo de una futura catástrofe que amenaza a la humanidad. En esta ocasión, se trata de una aventura al más puro estilo Pokémon, en la cual el jugador vagará por el mundo en busca de combates de cartas en su camino a lo más alto.

Por lo tanto, el mundo estará plagado de aficionados a las cartas con los que se podrá combatir. Entre ellos estarán muchos conocidos de la serie de animación, aunque también se podrá enfrentar a personajes anónimos no por ello menos hábiles. La mecánica del juego se reduce así a un simple sistema de avanzar por los limitados escenarios retando a otros personajes a combates de cartas.

Lo mejor y lo peor

Técnicamente, el juego muestra dos caras bien distintas. Mientras los escenarios y personajes lucen colores brillantes y son bastante llamativos, los combates de cartas son bastante más desoladores, con un fondo negro sobre el cual se juega y un mínimo detalle.

Por suerte, las ilustraciones de las cartas están tan bien trabajadas como siempre en los juegos de Yu-Gi-Oh, y son muy agradables a la vista. En los enfrentamientos entre cartas, estas ilustraciones se enfrentan entre sí, mostrando algunos efectos interesantes, aunque del mismo modo, algo limitados.

El apartado sonoro no ofrece nada más que algunas melodías de fondo que acompañan a la acción, pero sin demasiados alardes ni ningún tema especialmente llamativo. Sigue la estela de las anteriores entregas, tratándose de una banda sonora bastante similar, y los efectos sonoros prácticamente idénticos.

La mejor baza del título es, precisamente, la mejora de la base de datos de cartas, que presenta una cantidad de las mismas impresionante: junto a las 800 cartas que repiten de anteriores entregas, se podrán encontrar 200 cartas nuevas en la tienda del juego. Porque, para poder acceder a todas ellas, habrá que recurrir a la tienda, punto clave de este título si se quiere llegar a ser el mejor.

Y casi sin quererlo, a pesar de sus altibajos, el juego consigue entretener y presenta numerosos retos al jugador, que tendrá que dedicarle muchas horas para poder llegar a dominarlo y superar todos los enfrentamientos que ofrece el título. Pero, desgraciadamente, esto sólo tiene lugar cuando se han superado los duros inicios.

Como ya dije anteriormente, el título está muy orientado hacia los aficionados, por lo que aquellos que desconozcan el sistema que siguen los combates de cartas se encontrarán ante un juego que no les ofrece ningún tipo de explicación o tutorial, ni del sistema ni de las propias cartas. El conocimiento previo se hace casi imprescindible, aunque tampoco es imposible aprender a jugar a tientas.

Conclusión

Nos encontramos ante una nueva entrega de Yu-Gi-Oh que no hace sino reafirmar el éxito de la franquicia, a la par que deja claro que se trata de un título sólo para los seguidores más fieles. Con un buen acabado en general, y tratándose de uno de los juegos más largos de la portátil de Nintendo, no se trata de una mala opción, aunque presenta el handicap de conocer de antemano de qué va el asunto.

Muy al estilo Pokémon, el título consigue entretener y divierte con soltura, pero seguramente sólo los seguidores a los que está dirigido se atreverán a asomarse a esta nueva aventura con las cartas legendarias. Una nueva entrega y Konami no ha bajado el nivel, sino que demuestra saber lo que se hace y no sólo se mantiene, sino que va mejorando poco a poco. ¿Para cuándo la versión definitiva de las aventuras de Yu-Gi-Oh?
